QUANTUM WINS IMS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Very good news from Capri at the 2002 IMS World's
Quantum finishes 1st in group B and 3rd in group A.

"The new group B World Champion is the Beneteau 36.7 modified "Team Revolution" owned by Mr. Manfredo Toninelli and skippered by Marco Perazzo.
Quantum Italy at the beginning of the year took care of all the technical side of the boat (sails, rating etc...) The Gph rating was optimized with boat designer Maurizio Cossutti and sails were designed by Giovanni Cassinari of Quantum Italy. Daniele Cassinari followed the tests of the sails in the water. "Team Revolution" was equipped with new Quantum QGL Carbon except the light genoa made out of Fusion Tfm. 4 spinnakers has been build for the event: 1 Vmg, 1 Vmg/Ap, 1 Runner,1 Heavy
The first 2 with nylon 0.5, the third with nylon 0.6 and the fourth with nylon 0.75.

In group B the IMX 45 "Giacomelli Sport-X3" finished 3rd. Giovanni Cassinari designed the sails and was on board as tactician. All the sails were build with QGL Carbon exept the light genoa build with QC Carbon and the Jib Top with Fusion TFM. The boat is owned by Mr. Emanuele Giacomelli and skippered by Gabriele Benussi from Sail Planet Inc.
"Giacomelli Sport" has been also the first IMX 45 of the fleet.

This year the IMS world Championship was devided in two categories:
Group A for boat with Gph under 595 (24 entries)
Group B for boat with Gph over 595 (62 entries)"
