All About Alerion Express
|
Welcome to the Alerion Express fleet. Alerions are currently available in 20, 28 and 38 foot versions with a new 33 foot version available soon. These yachts are proudly made in the USA by Pearson Composites, the manufacturer of the J Boats.

This is the largest sailboat builder in the Northeast, a stature based on the sustained success of the exemplary J Boats and the classic Alerion Express. The company is backed by an illustrious history. Everett Pearson, who co-founded Pearson Yachts, started in 1966, and under his direction a number of production innovations were introduced. Principal among these was the "Scrimp"TM process of resin infusion, which literally transformed fiberglass construction, taking it from the often haphazard nature of hand lay up to a new level of precision manufacturing. Where the old systems of hand lay up were highly subject to human error, the ScrimpTM system provides complete control of the resin input by vacuum infusion, resulting in a higher glass to resin ratio that makes a lighter but stronger laminate. This new level of manufacturing control also facilitated the production of large windmill blades and composite bus bodies, and these new disciplines had synergistic spin-off benefits that were brought back to boat construction. The Marine Division is now under new management and the Pearson brand name is being revived with a new line of exciting powerboats. Customers are encouraged to visit the modern plant (by appointment) where they can view first hand the various stages of construction and the processes which have built Pearson's respected reputation. In a business fraught with frequent financial failures, this company has been a steady, reliable leader for more than 40 years. Their hard earned record of consistent high quality-and the customer service that stands behind it-is a tangible advantage to Alerion owners.
