Doug Hughes, CPYB

Sailing for over 35 years, and selling boats now for over 18… I have logged many fun filled days on the water, both cruising and racing. Fortunate to have found a career doing something that I really enjoy, I take much pride in finding the right boat to fit individual needs. Starting in this industry back in 1989, selling boats from a Sunfish to 36ft keelboats and helping new sailors with the smaller models, along with running a complete ship’s store and service department… that really prepared me for selling the larger yachts like we specialize in here at Sea Lake.

I joined the team at Sea Lake in 1996 and am very fortunate and happy to be working with the most professional and experienced group of brokers here on the Gulf Coast. I am one of less than 400 brokers nationwide to become a Certified Professional Yacht Broker after extensive training and testing with the Yacht Brokers Association of America. I have always been very involved with the local Gulf Coast Yacht Brokers Association, I served as the vice-president, President in 97-98 and then two years on the board of directors. I was presented with the Yacht Broker of the Year award, as decided by my peers in this area. I have recently just been elected again to serve once again as the President of our association for another term 07-08.  I would really enjoy helping you in anyway I can.

Pat O’Neal, CPYB

I look forward to sharing my love of sailing with the experienced Sea Lake team of professionals and its clientele. I have lots of experience sailing on the Bay and the Texas  coast, as well as other seas. I find it a delight in sharing the wonder and excitement of our watery world with people seeking to enjoy it too. For that reason, the process of finding a good fit for each boating search is an enjoyable experience to me. Let’s have a good time while we look to satisfy a new stage in your boating experience!

“Sailboat” Mike Shebester, CPYB

As my name implies I am someone that most people associate with sailing even though I have a passion for all types of boating. I learned to sail 35 years ago and have been active in both cruising and racing. I have lived aboard for most of the past 14 years on a variety of boats. The thing that I love about sailing is that it can be either the most relaxing or intense activity that you can participate in depending on whether you are cruising or racing.

I have a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering and a background in the oil industry. I started my yacht selling career representing Beneteau Sailboats at Loe’s Highport on Lake Texoma in 1992. I joined the Sea Lake Yacht Sales team in December 2003 and I am excited about or new location at Pier 121 Marina on Lake Lewisville  and all the new product lines that I now represent. I have been successful in selling boats but I am not a high pressure salesman. My customers keep coming back to me for my product knowledge and my listening ability. Once I find out what features you want in a boat and how you are going to use a boat I take my experience and product knowledge to steer you to the right boat. Let me help you find the right boat for you.

Richard Bohrer

Sea Lake Yachts has a “not so new” Yacht Broker. After an eleven year hiatus, Richard Bohrer, previous owner of Windward Yachts, Houston Yachts and Gateway Charters, has returned and is anxious to follow his passion back into the business of assisting boaters and wannabe boaters in finding or replacing the boat of their dreams.

You may remember Richard as the dealer for Catalina/Morgan, Endeavor and Island Packet Yachts or you may have bought or listed a previously loved yacht at Houston Yachts or Windward Yachts. You may also remember Richard from one of the the many sailing clubs, chartered one of his yachts or taken sailing lessons from his Gateway Sailing School.  Richard was a familiar face for years on theWednesday Night Race Committee boat, assisting in all aspects of the loved sporting event in our area.  Having been in and around the business in the Clear Lake area for over twenty years, some of Richard’s fondest memories have enticed him to get back in to the boating industry. Give Richard a call or stop by Sea Lake Yachts in the Watergate Marina and say hello.

Bill Mays

I have often suggested to friends who do not sail, that they should really try it because it is better than having ten psychiatrists available to give you serenity and a clear head.

I began sailing in 1970 in a 12 foot dingy on White Rock Lake and have owned or rented boats up to 47 feet in the Narragansett Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and Puget Sound. I built a small fiberglass catamaran sailboat in 1971, and have owned and restored several small wooden boats and I am currently restoring a 1957 15 ‘Yellow Jacket runabout; one of ten thousand built in Denison, Texas.
