I was born in Bogotá Colombia and lived in 5 different countries. I speak fluent Spanish, English and French. I started sailing as a child in a lake near Bogotá which I still frequent very often. I came to the United States in 1977 to go to college, Florida Institute of Technology, where I majored in Oceanography. While I was in college I received my captain's license and started delivering sailboats in my spare time, usually from the north east to Florida and the caribbean.

After graduating from FIT, I did couple trasatlantic crossings, and decided to start my own company. I resigned from my job with Gulf Oil and in 1983 started a sailing school in Houston where I was living at the time.

during the late 1980's, I founded the National Ocean Access Project, along with Vince Morvillo, to teach the handicap how to sail.

Since them, I have logged over 100,000 sea miles, teaching and delivering boats from north to south and east to west. I have done extensive racing and won many championships, some at a world level. Today, you can find me in the race course about every weekend, I am doing a lot of racing locally and in the Caribbean circuit.

I have been part of Sea Lake Yacht Sales since the early 80's, at that time as a hired captain to deliver boats or to teach customers. Today, after receiving another degree from the University of Houston in Computer Science, I spend most of my time here in the office maintaining our website and network.
